The guides at the 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐜 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 are now halfway through their course – and they’ll be fully prepared when the cruise season begins in May 🚢

Last Saturday, a midterm test was held at Christiansborg Slot. The students were assigned either a room or a tapestry, which they had to present to guests and examiners.

𝐈𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 ✨ Everyone participated with great enthusiasm and dedication, captivating the audience from start to finish.

All students passed, and celebrated afterward with a delightful Christmas dinner at a nearby restaurant – organized by the students themselves.

It’s truly a joy to witness how this incredible group of people, each with such diverse backgrounds, engage and grow week by week under the guidance of Charlotte Emmery, who leads the Nordic Guide Academy 👏

Since 2022, DMC Nordic has been organizing incentive tours to the Faroe Islands. This year, under the expert guidance of our colleagues Amanda and Petio, and in collaboration with our local adventure partner on-site @naxfaroeislands , we had the pleasure of hosting a German incentive group for an active tour.

It was at the Town Hall Square in 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐧, 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚! The year was 1441, and this tradition has continued every year since.

This fascinating piece of history reflects the rich culture of Tallinn — and Estonia as a whole, which our Country Manager Marianna Bühler and her Estonian team can tell you much more about 🇪🇪

Every year, the official Christmas market takes place in the square, becoming a cherished event for both locals and visitors alike🎄 The market features traditional Estonian handicrafts, and Christmas cuisine, including black pudding, sour cabbage, gingerbread, and warm festive drinks, making it a perfect destination for food lovers too ✨

Yesterday was a significant day for Greenland, for @air_greenland_official — and for DMC Nordic 🇬🇱

The new airport in Nuuk officially opened, and onboard the inaugural flight from Copenhagen were our CEO, Thomas Høy, and one of our Cruise Managers, Sasha.

In September, we opened an office in Nuuk, led by Magnus Billman Trolle and developed in collaboration with local partners.

Until now, all international flights to Greenland had to pass through Kangerlussuaq Airport just north of the polar circle, originally build as an American military base and the only place to accommodated large aircraft. From there, passengers had to transfer by helicopter or small propeller flights to Nuuk or other destinations 🏔️

The new airport makes Greenland more accessible to the rest of the world — and the rest of the world more accessible to Greenlanders.

The 𝐃𝐌𝐂 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐜 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 has grown significantly over the past year, and this week we’ve gathered everyone in Oslo for our annual conference ✨

53 colleagues (representing 27 nationalities!) from our 7 destinations across the Nordics came together for an exciting program: Dinners, presentations of new destinations, a recap of 2024, an introduction to our 2025 strategy, a curling match, a fjord cruise, and delicious lunches.

DMC Nordic is now 41 years old — just as authentic and personal as on day one — but larger than ever and represented in more countries than before 🌍

A big 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 to all our wonderful colleagues for joining us these days and for bringing your unique sparkle to the event. Each and every one of you is the foundation of our company! - Including our 12 colleagues who couldn’t make it to the event this year.

The images are from our arrival night, where we enjoyed a traditional Norwegian Christmas dinner at @frognerseteren — a place we often recommend to our clients for its authenticity (and excellent acoustics, thanks to its wooden cabin setting). Snowfall outside added the perfect touch, making the experience truly magical ☃️🎄

There’s no Christmas without the Christmas tables at the @royalcopenhagen Flagship Store🎄

Last week, our colleague Rasa attended the grand opening of the newly renovated Royal Copenhagen Flagship Store in Copenhagen. At the same event the Christmas Tables 2024 were revealed - a yearly tradition since 1963 where the first Christmas exhibition took place ✨

We collaborate with Royal Copenhagen on VIP and incentive programs, offering guests experiences such as VIP shopping with food & drinks, guided tours focusing on Danish design, or exclusive Royal Copenhagen painting workshops.

Tuesday Night in Stockholm ✨

Our colleagues from the Stockholm office attended the annual @strommastockholm party at Nybrokajen. It was an evening filled with mingling, delicious food and drinks and live entertainment🥂

We’ve partnered with Strömma for many years, where our cruise guests join canal tours, and larger groups enjoy lunch or dinner cruises in the Archipelago or trips to Drottningholm.

Our colleague Elise, based in northern Denmark, is the woman behind our shore excursions when cruise ships arrive in Aarhus 🚢

She is currently out nurturing partnerships in the area and making sure she is up-to-date for the coming season.

Recently, she visited 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐥 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐩 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦, a stunning site set in beautiful natural surroundings, where an impressive 120 volunteers keep the museum’s activities running. A place run by volunteers is remarkable, and the authentic atmosphere at the museum is something our guests always appreciate.

Elise also visited our friends at 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐦 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 (pictured below), which dates back to 1610. This castle is unique, as it has been privately held by the same family since its construction. Unlike other castles designed as museums, this one retains the feel of a noble home and appears much as it did when it was inhabited up until a generation ago.

Both locations are part of our excursion programs as an introduction to Denmark’s rich cultural heritage 🏰

We’re looking forward to May, when the first ship of the season anchors in Aarhus 🇩🇰

✨ Gala dinners are an essential part of MICE productions 🍽️

Last Friday, DMC Nordic Finland had the honor of producing the 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚 2024 for the Finnish Travel Association Suomen matkailualan liitto, in collaboration with our esteemed partner, Finnish Travel Marketing Ltd.

The event welcomed 440 Finnish and international travel professionals to the brand-new Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport ballroom ✨ In addition to awarding winners across 12 categories, a highlight of the evening was the Finnair Pilots’ Big Band—a unique orchestra composed of current and former Finnair pilots.

Thank you to Suomen Matkailualan liitto for trusting us with this important evening, and to everyone who contributed to the extraordinary atmosphere. And congratulations to the proud winners 🏆

We proudly call ourselves destination experts — and while that’s true, even experts sometimes discover something new!

Recently, our MICE team from the Copenhagen office — Rasa, Petio, and Amanda — visited Bernstorff Castle and Charlottenlund Castle for a site inspection. Both castles offer stunning settings, ideal for MICE and business groups to host lunches, dinners, and events.

🏰 Bernstorff Castle, one of Europe’s earliest neoclassical buildings, served as a summer residence for the Danish royal family until 1939.

🏰 Charlottenlund Castle, dating back to 1733, has also been a royal summer residence, with two Scandinavian kings born within its walls.

These historic venues are set amid beautiful Danish landscapes and are just a short drive from Copenhagen. Get inspired by these beautiful photos taken by our colleague Rasa during the site-inspection 🍃

We are very happy to have discovered these new venues and look forward to featuring them in our offerings starting in 2025.

The cruise team in 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧 & 𝐎𝐬𝐥𝐨, 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐲 recently reunited for a workshop to wrap up the 2024 cruise season.
While the main focus was reviewing the season and noting improvements for the future, it wouldn’t be a proper get-together without an excursion and a festive dinner✨

As we often recommend to our guests, the team took the Ulriksbanen cable car for a stunning view over Bergen, followed by dinner at 𝐒𝐤𝐲𝐬𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧, a mountain-top restaurant with excellent food and panoramic views.

Our newly launched Nordic Guide Academy in Copenhagen is off to a fantastic start 🧭

This talented group of future guides comes from diverse backgrounds, including writers, journalists, and actors. Each one is passionate about making personal connections and eager to bring stories to life✨

This Saturday, the group joined Sara from “Copenhagen This Way” for a demonstration tour in Dragør. Sara, one of our academy’s instructors, focuses on more than just historical facts — she emphasizes storytelling and the art of body language, as you can see in these images.

As a guide academy, we believe in more than just sharing information; we believe in sharing emotions and stories, creating a welcoming space of inclusion when guests visit our destinations🌍

These future guides will complete their training by April, just in time to welcome our many guests when the cruise season kicks off in May 🚢

As the busy cruise season winds down, we’re taking advantage of quieter days to connect with our partners and plan for the season ahead 📆

In Tallinn, our Estonian team recently visited Olde Hansa, a medieval-themed restaurant housed in a 700-year-old town house in the heart of the Old Town.
We’ve collaborated with them on cruise FAM trips and MICE events for years and are thrilled to announce that next season, Olde Hansa will also be part of our afternoon excursions.

Authentic experiences that showcase historical life can be hard to find, especially ones that authentically replicate the past. We’re genuinely impressed by the ambiance at Olde Hansa — dining rooms lit solely by candlelight, hand-crafted Estonian tableware, and antique silverware — all creating a truly immersive experience.
The menus are based on authentic medieval records, offering a taste of what a 15th-century wealthy household would have enjoyed🍽️

We’re excited to share this unique piece of Tallinn’s history with our guests in the upcoming season!
